moab, utah… help!

May 5, 2009

i’ll be spending a little time in moab, utah coming up and i just wanted to know if any of you have any recommendations on cool places to eat, shop etc… things to do with a two year old and you are over 7 months pregnant… that sort of thing.
i’m well aware it’s not the dining/shopping capitol of the world, but any hidden gems would be nice! vintage shops what have you.
let me know! i’d love to hear any suggestions you may have!

hmm.. i think you will win the lottery if you find a vintage store! 🙂 Moab is smaller than you’d think… but i remember the large mexican restaurant being good. 🙂

    have fun.

hi caroline. moab is one of our hot spots. here it goes…

    Wild Rose’s (shop) 200 N 100 W
    Arches Book Co.(cute book spot)
    78 N Main
Barkery (dog shop) next to the Book Co.

Love Muffin (breakfast/lunch- order at the counter type place) Turkey Chipotle Sandwich… yummy!
La Hacienda (Mexican place Nicole mentioned)
Branding Iron (on the way out of town maybe 10 minutes heading south)

    To do:

Take a look around the Arches National Park Visitors Center. Might have some fun things for your little guy to do or look at.

In Arches there are some neat places for him to climb rocks and a couple arches that are just a short walk from the parking spots.

    Kid programs too.

    That’s all I’ve got!

    Have fun.

We headed to Moab in November with our then under two-year-old and if you have a chance to hike a bit and want to do something family friendly, I would try Sand Dune Arch in Arches. It’s really just a short walk, not a hike, that you could manage when you’re pregnant and it was our son’s favorite part of the day. You can see a couple photos here, but it doesn’t really do it justice.

Just be warned you’ll bring loads of sand back with you!

    Have fun!

Hi! We spend loads of time in Moab –

Our favorite place to stay is: – it has a pool!

our favorite hike is negro bill canyon – totally family friendly, easy.

our favorite place for breakfast is: jailhouse cafe; favorite kid dinner place is the moab diner or zak’s wood fired pizza or milts diner.

    have fun!

    oooo. we love moab!
first time husband introduced me to arches i was larger than large pregnant, and it was still wonderfully enjoyable despite the fact that we camped!

favorite restaurants: eddie mcstiff’s and the pasta place that has a red and white awning (don’t remember the name…)

shopping: why shop when you can hit arches?! generally i love a good buy, but arches is so beautiful it’s worth dedicating the time to explore.

word of advice: we hike the doozies at zion all the time. its always fun so long as we have a hiking pack! our 2.5 year old loves to go “hikey hikey” in his little REI pack. and there are plenty places you can just park and get out of the car for a bit if you aren’t up for a full blown hike.

geez. i wrote a novel. ENJOY!!
