DIY: easy christmas stationary …

December 16, 2010

sticking to my metallics theme with my paper garlandplace cards, and gift box topper, i decided to make some fun christmas stationary.  this would be a great addition, and personal touch to your christmas presents!

 i used my lifestyle craft / quickutz die cutting machine (the epic six tool) with the simple circles, fancy wrap around envelope tabs, and a small snowflake die cut.  i just took a kraft envelope and card.  for the card, i used my sewing machine to sew on the circles in gold and silver.

festive right?  these would also be great for thank you notes!

DIY: christmas place cards / name cards…

December 9, 2010

i made another little christmas craft- some fun place cards for your holiday table.  although, you can use them for more than just christmas.
we usually have a fun brunch christmas morning with our little family after we open presents.  so, i thought it would be fun to add our own little place cards to spruce up the table a little bit.  but, these would be great idea for your christmas parties that are sure to be coming up! {p.s.- do you spy my holiday garland in these pictures?}

DIY christmas name / place cards  {here is a little run down on how i made them}:

  • i was able to use my new die cut machine, from lifestyle crafts.  i used the nesting circles die to cut out the middle music sheet paper, then i used the nesting scalloped circles to cut out the gold poster paper scalloped paper. {all from their new basics release}
  • i then printed out on white textured cardstock our names in the font that i liked, then cut out the names into strips.
  • i then glued the music sheet circle to the gold scallop, then bent/folded the name strips twice on each end so they were more 3-d and glued on the ends to the rest.
  • the finishing touch was a cute little mini-clothes pin that i picked up at the craft store.
  • i chose to put them in little succulent plant pots that i already had {inspired by this post}, but really, you could place them just about anywhere.

i hope this helps with your holiday planning!

DIY: paper christmas garland …

December 7, 2010

so, i finally am getting a chance around here to make a few fun christmas crafts.  i’ll be sharing a few of my fun projects over the next little bit.

my first christmas craft i decided to make was some fun paper garland.  here’s a little tutorial / DIY on how i made the christmas paper garland.

i was able to use a great new die cut machine from lifestyle crafts.  i used their basic nesting circles from their new basic shapes release to cut out my paper.

i used part of my huge supply of vintage music sheets, and i also used gold and silver shiny poster board i picked up at the craft store.

the process was really simple.  after i cut out my paper circles,  i just feed each circle through my sewing machine one after the other.  for the gold and silver, i double them up, so they would show the color on the front and back.
i didn’t really have a pattern in mind, i just feed through whatever color i thought looked good.

and, that’s pretty much it.
just make it as short or as long as you need it!
let me know if you make one, i’d love to see it!

now, i’m off to make norah’s sweater stocking to match the rest of ours…. i never got around to making her one last year.
