first of all, thank you for all your congrats and such on my last post. you are all so sweet! i’m still wrapping my head around the idea of a girl, but i am getting there.
this past week i’ve been eating hummus like crazy. i just love fresh hummus. seriously, once you make it from scratch, you’ll never buy the store bought kind again. and, it’s super easy to make. here’s the recipe i came up with.. enjoy!
1 15 oz can [2 cups] of chickpeas, drained [preferably organic]
1/4 cup tahini [a ground sesame seed mixture, found locally at whole foods]
1 large garlic clove
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tbs lemon juice
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper [optional, if you like spicy]
1 tbs plain yogurt
1 tbs olive oil
1/4 tsp ground paprika
1/4 cup water [may need more to reach desired consistency]
1-2 tbs fresh parsley, chopped
place all ingredients except for garnish in a food processor and blend until smooth, adding more water if needed to reach a desired consistency. taste for spices and adjust as needed. place in a serving bowl and drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika and parsley.
serve with a warm pita, pita chips, or vegetables.
i will definitely be trying this. we’re ordering lunch from ‘hummus kitchen’ today at work and i love a good fresh batch.
the picture you took is so nice.
i am in awe of people like you who can come up with recipies like this! i love me some hummus so i’ll have to give it a try!
also, where do you buy your spices for your Indian recipies?
and congrats on the new babe!
Beautiful photo! I love hummus, but I still just buy it from TJs. I keep meaning to try making it myself.
I love hummus too! We made some for our Super Bowl snacks and it was gone fast!
I will have to try your recipe. Thanks!
i. love. hummus.
My absolute favorite! And sooo much cheaper then buying it from the store. I have a killer black bean/cilantro/lime recipe you’ll have to try.
oh i love hummus! thanks so much for the recipe. i tried one recipe i found, but it was kind of bland. i think yours will be much better. thanks for sharing!
Wow, your hummus recipe is way different than mine! I use: 2 cans chickpeas, a slab of tahini, a big splash of olive oil, juice from a whole lemon, and three big cloves of garlic. I use a handblender to mix it all up and it tastes AWESOME! I’ll have to try yours sometime, the yogurt is interesting!
