Wow! It has been a minute!  I blinked in January, and all of the sudden it is May!  Time flies when you are having fun, as they say!  This year has been flying by, and I have been traveling like crazy, which isn’t a bad thing!  You all know I love to travel!  I don’t think I have been home a full month this entire year so far, and some months I wasn’t home an entire week!  But, I have a pocket full of memories to show for it, but not a lot of work getting done around here the past few months, ah well!  No regrets!

This year so far, I have been to California three times (LA, Palm Springs, San Diego), Colorado (Vail/ Beaver Creek), and we just recently took a the kids on a family trip to Washington DC!  Boy I love that city!

Getting ready for travel, I wanted to amp up my spring and summer wardrobe a bit.  I always head to Evereve because they curate the best of the best brands that you see in major departments stores, but they select only the very best and make sure that there are plenty of items you can style with it!  They also can help style you from head to toe with their in store stylists or, for the ultimate timesaver efficiently maximizer, you can just fill out a questionnaire on their Trendsend site, and a stylist will personally curate a box of looks just for you!  Anything you don’t want, you can just mail them back to return them!  So amazing for busy ladies!

Lately, I have been more strategic about shopping for myself, and my kids for that matter, about consciously shopping in complete outfits, so I know exactly what I am wearing my pieces with. When it comes to shopping for new items for my wardrobe, I have found the key is to find a few pieces each season that can be mix and matched to create several outfits out of just a few pieces.  I have found this makes getting ready so much easier, and it lends itself to packing for travel so much easier when you can wear the same jacket with multiple outfits, or bottoms paired with several tops, or the same shoes with a variety of outfits.  It really makes life so much easier to make one less decision.  With my busy mom-brain going a hundred miles a minute, anything that makes my life easier is heaven sent!  I make enough decision for myself and other little humans, so any chance I can make anything more seamless, that is key for me!

I just love when all the florals, dresses, skirts, and sandals hit the stores!  And, Evereve has SO many amazing pieces arriving daily for Spring and Summer!  Just a hint, if you have one of their 80 plus stores in your area, head in their first before you shop online.  Items hit the stores before their website, so if you want first dibs on new items, head in with their amazing stylists and try it all on!  I come in so often that they know my sizes, and what I like, and my dressing room is already filled up with new items to try before I even get there!  (Hint: if you’re in Utah, go talk to Brooke the store manager at the City Creek location!  She’s the best!)

As I said, when Spring and Summer hit, I basically live in skirts and dresses.  There are so many great options right now that I am loving!  This yellow floral skirt has my name written all over it..  and it has pockets ladies.. yep!  The perfect summer skirt!

So, back to our recent trip to Washington DC!  Have you been?  It’s a favorite! I feel like it’s the most France-like city in the US!  It helps that it was designed by a Frenchman back in the day.  But, wow such Parisian vibes when I go there!  I went to Washington D.C. for the first time in high school with my AP US History class, then while my husband and I were dating, he moved there a bit for work, and I went out to visit him just weeks after September 11.  He was working less than a mile from the Pentagon that day, I will never forget it!  Anyhow, long story short.  Washington DC has a special place in our hearts, and honestly I always thought there was a chance we may end up living there one day we love it so much.   Well, I guess it’s never too late (wink)!

As you may have noticed we enjoy traveling with our kids!  Yes, it is not as relaxing, yes, it is so much more work, yes, it is expense, yes, our kids whine just like any other kids, but we have made it a point to show them the world, and with all of the hard parts that have come with traveling with kids, the reward has been so so great!  To see a city through the eyes of your children really brings a new perspective and appreciation!  With so much history in a place like Washington DC (we also went to Gettysburg too), it was so amazing to have history come to life for our kids seeing such historical sites, and monuments, and memorials for such monumentous moments in American History.  Our kids soaked up SO much information, and to see them really internalize and process some of the hard bits of history (war and all that). I know it won’t be something they forget anytime soon, and especially how it made them feel.  I think they have grown an appreciation for the brave men and women that have sacrificed so much for our country, and I don’t think they would have gained that had we not taken them on this trip!  One of the many reasons that I am passionate about traveling with my kids.  Plus, I figure one day I will have to beg them to travel with us once friends become the priority.  So, I am going to cherish these travel days as much as I can!  Soon enough, they’ll be out of the house, and I’ll always have these memories and experiences!
