We enjoyed our time in Irvine, and loved doing some activities that made us feel more like locals than visitors. We had some great recommendations from DestinationIrvine.com, and I’m excited to share some of the fun things we were able to do!
Here are 4 Things to Do in Irvine that make you feel like a Local:
1) Irvine Spectrum:
The Irvine Spectrum is one of California’s most popular shopping and dining destination. They are more than just a place to shop, the Spectrum also has a carousel and a 108 foot tall Giant Wheel designed in Italy. We had a great time riding the Giant Wheel, and walking around the Spectrum. The mall is quite impressive, and is a popular spot to hangout for locals.
The Diamond Jamboree is a multi-cultural dining and shopping experience that brings together many different Asian cuisines and International flavors.
We loved the Diamond Jamboree shopping center! Being a lover of all Asian foods, it was the perfect location for us to grab lunch or dinner while we were in Irvine.
85° C Bakery in Irvine we found was a happening place with all the locals. We went in a few times during our stay and it was always packed with customers.
We discovered some really great Asian style cakes and breads. We let each of our kids pick out a little treat, and they were thrilled. I loved the blueberry cheesecake the best!
We also headed to dinner at Pho Saigon Pearl for some Vietnamese comfort food. Pho noodle soup is a family favorite, and my kids and husband all loved it. Their broth was very flavorful, and I am very picky when it comes to my Pho broth. Their ingredients all were very fresh, and the restaurant was very popular.

I have been on a big Ramen soup kick lately, so when we were at the Diamond Jamboree we came across Ajisen Ramen. We headed there for lunch, and I got the Ramen with Pork and it hit the spot.
Pretend City is a pretend magical interactive “city” for children, where they can play “grown-up” by going to work, buying the groceries, visiting the doctor, collecting their pay from an ATM.
My kids thought it was pretty cool that they could work at a restaurant, and check-out at the grocery store. They punched their timecards and at the end got paid their pretend money. I feel like the museum catered the most to kids about age 2-6, but my 8 year old also had a really fun time!
Irvine Regional Park is not your average park. It is a beautiful public park, but so much to offer! We went on a train ride, paddle boats in the pond, and they also have surrey bikes you can rent. We noticed a lot of locals there enjoying the afternoon at the many playgrounds and walking trails. They also have a small zoo!
This is a great place to stay while visiting California, since it’s not too far from the beach and a quick drive to Disneyland. Irvine is a very nice and safe area, and we really enjoyed our time there!
We couldn’t help but let the kids try out the Photo Booth area in the lobby of the Embassy Suites. Can you even handle Thomas in those nerd glasses?! Ha!
We loved the location, and my kids thought the breakfast buffet and snack time was the best thing ever! They loved picking out their breakfast each morning, and it is great for a family on a budget to have breakfast included! You can spot my cute family eating breakfast if you look really close. My husband is in the yellow shirt.
They have an indoor pool, which is always a favorite of the kids, and I also enjoyed using their fitness center while we were there.
We were able to get a King size suite, which was nice to have a separate room from the kids, and they all slept out on the pull out sofa bed in the living room area. I love having some separate areas and more than one TV to make it feel a little less like travel, and we can all retire for the night without interrupting each other. It was a great place to stay with our young family!
Thank you so much Destination Irvine for all the great recommendations for fun family activities and places to eat, and Embassy Suites Irvine for the lovely stay! (all thoughts an opinions are my own) I can’t wait to come back! (Luckily I have a quick trip back at the end of the month!)

Whether you like it or not, Winter is here, and I have been on the search for some key Winter staples in my wardrobe. I am excited to partner with Evereve today to bring you 3 Key Must Have Fashion Pieces You Need this Winter! Evereve is a women’s clothing store that specifically curates each piece with a mom in mind. Each piece they sell is well thought out for a fashion loving mom, that will fit her lifestyle. They have more than 50 retail stores coast to coast, and opened their first store in Utah a few years ago!
I have been hunting for the perfect pair of jeans that you don’t need to tug and pull on to keep them up, that have just enough stretch to keep you comfortable and looking good, with the right softness in the denim.
Evereve formally known as Hot Mama is my new go-to spot for quality designer denim, and they had a perfect range of options for this Mama of three.
It is so important to invest in a good pair of quality jeans. Back when I was having babies, and nursing, and having babies, my size would fluctuate and I didn’t invest in a good quality pair of jeans for a while. But, boy is there a difference in the overall quality, feel, and durability.
I went into my local Evereve in Utah, and probably tore apart their dressing rooms on my quest for the best pair of jeans I could find, and find it I did!
They are the Farrah Skinny Jeans by AG denim. They really fit so well, and are a new staple in my wardrobe! I feel so comfortable wearing them all day, and they stay up when I’m out chasing my kids. I was happy to find an outfit I felt both comfortable and stylish in for some Family pictures!
My next winter staple I have been on the hunt for is a long cardigan. I have loved seeing long cardigans make a come back! They are so versatile and can be worn with denim, or even a dress!
I found this Park City cardigan (love the name!) by Peyton Jensen at Evereve that I fell in love with it. It is so soft and lightweight enough to keep you warm, but not make you too toasty while inside this winter. I have already worn it several times this winter, and receive compliments every time I wear it.
And, the last key winter piece I was looking out for was a statement scarf.
I love a good statement piece, and in the winter a scarf serves that purpose, and keeps you warm on those snowy days! I fell in love with this Oversized Plaid Scarf from Evereve, and have worn it with so many things already this winter. It is really versatile, and can be worn with a dress, coat, or with a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt.I’m happy to be set with some key winter staples that I will be wearing over and over again throughout the season, and most importantly feel confident in! So, what are some of your favorite winter fashion pieces?
We had so much fun on our recent trip to California, and packed in a few fun days at Huntington Beach. I wanted to post a round up of some of our favorite activities we did as a family while visiting Huntington Beach! Hopefully you can get some good ideas for your next family vacation!
1) Family Duffy Boat Ride in the Huntington Harbor. Enjoy cruising the Huntington Harbor with a family Duffy Boat Ride. We set sail on a little adventure, and had a great time being the captain of our own Duffy Boat in the calm Harbor waters. The kids had a blast, and we all enjoyed turning up some music and cruising the Huntington Harbor.
Boat Rental Location and Details: (located in Sunset Beach)
2) Bolsa Chica Wetlands and Ecological Reserve Interpretive Center.
Home to some of the best bird spotting spots in the United States, attracting flocks migrating the Pacific Flyway between North and South America. Hike the trails, and see if you can spot a great blue heron, or rare white pelican. Check out some animals on display at the Interpretive Center.
What is a beach city without an iconic Pier. Huntington Beach Pier has been around since 1904, and stretches 1,850 feet into the Pacific Ocean making it one of the longest piers on the West Coast.
The Pier is a nice place to stroll and watch the surfers, fisherman, or the sunset. They have a few souvenir shops and Ruby’s Surf City Diner out at the end of the pier.
Located at the Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street in the heart of downtown Huntington Beach.
It is free and open to the public Daily from 5 am to midnight. Note: No dogs, Bicycles, Skateboards or smoking on the Pier.
4) Family Surrey Bike Ride on the Pacific Coast Highway Trail.
Enjoy a surrey bike ride along the coast with picturesque views. Fun for the whole family, and smiles all around. My kids loved our ride, and there was a lot of bell ringing and good times for all.
Huntington Beaches newest shopping mall housing many unique stores and restaurants! This just opened in November of 2015, and new shops are opening weekly!
Located in Pier Plaza, adjacent to the Huntington Beach Pier
Open Friday afternoons
7) Beach Bonfire.
We had our beach bonfire set up with the Hyatt Regency where we were staying, but there are also public Beach Firepits along the Huntington State Beach. The public ones are first come first serve, and you need to bring your own fire wood and starters.
Located along the Pacific coast highway between Beach Bouleward and Brookhurst Street. The beach is free and open to the public from 6 am to 10 pm daily. Parking is $15 per day in summer and $10 during non-peak seasons. Parking lot gates close at 9 pm daily.
