book review: the hunger games …

March 16, 2010

i was recommended by many people to read the hunger games, by suzanne collins.it is young-adult science fiction novel. it introduces sixteen-year-old katniss everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world where a powerful government called the capitol has risen up after several devastating disasters. in the book, the hunger games are an annual televised event where the ruthless and evil capitol randomly selects one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, who are then pitted against each other in a game of survival and forced to kill until only one remains.

it didn’t disappoint. i’ll be honest, when you find out what the story is about, you do sit for a minute and think, “am i really reading this?” but, then the more you read, you realize what an interesting/entertaining story it is, and you can put it down because you want to know what is going to happen next.i’m excited to read the next book, catching fire. then of course, the third book mockingjay doesn’t come out until the end of august.

Great review! I read The Hunger Games in just one sitting. I'm done reading Catching fire. The cliffhanger on the second book makes me want to grab a copy of Mockingjay ASAP. It's really disappointing that we have to wait til August 24.

Since it will be made into a movie, who would you want to play the role of Katniss? You can vote here: The Hunger Games Trilogy Fansite

    hi jen!

i've always like to read, but i've been reading a lot more lately since my little boy broke the tv in our bedroom, so we got rid of it. then our other tv broke. then i realized i liked reading better anyway. so, i only watch a handful of shows and read whenever i get a chance!

love this book, and loved the second one even more!

Have you ever read "The Cinderella Pact"? It's very cute and funny, I was laughing out loud when I read it.

Just finished reading the 3rd book last night 🙂

I also felt the same way reading the first one, "am I really reading this? It's sadistic!" Lol, but I also couldn't put it down! I recommend it as well.
