As you may have seen over on my social media pages, we just returned from a whirlwind family trip to Europe!  It was so much fun to be able to bring the kids on this trip, and show them the world!

When it comes to packing, if you are a mom, you know that most of the responsibility lies on us.  Not only do I have to pack for myself, but I also have to pack my three kids, and any little thing they may need!

I was able to do a little planning and shopping at Evereve before my trip!  They always have the best pieces all in one place to make it a one-stop-shop for everything I needed to dress myself for my trip! I knew that I wanted to keep things simple when packing for myself. I focused on putting together a few key pieces that I could mix and match!

What to Wear on Vacation (Travel Capsule): A Packing Guide & Tips for Traveling in Style:

• Start with the Basics:  If you are trying to pack light, starting with the basics is always a great first step!  When you are packing look for items that can be used in more than one outfit.  A versatile white t-shirt, a jacket that will go with all the outfits you have packed, or on trend denim that can be mixed and matched with other items.  Sticking with some key basic pieces, and colors will help you to stretch your wardrobe throughout your trip without having to pack everything but the kitchen sink!

• Dress for Comfort:  With a European vacation dressing for comfort is key.  This is the kind of vacation where you are not just sitting around.  You are on-the-go basically all day long.  So comfort is key.  I knew that I would have to for go the très chic kind of fashion for some shoes that offered comfort, but also are cute!  I basically lived in my Birkenstocks!  I pretty much wore them every single day of the trip!  I couldn’t recommend them enough for a trip that you will be on the go!

• Consider the Weather:  I knew that the time we would be in Europe would be fairly hot.  So overpacking on warmer items and jackets wouldn’t be the best move.  I made sure to pack a jacket that would go well with all the items in my wardrobe, so if I did need it, it would be a versatile piece.  And, I also packed things that were lightweight and would keep me cool.  Some bermuda shorts and a skirt were perfect options to bring on the trip, and I could mix and match a few tops!  Dresses are also the perfect option, and pack super light!

• Accessorize with Key Pieces:  Jewelry is always something that can bring an outfit to the next level.  However, packing too many accessories for a vacation may not be a good idea.  Keep an eye out for items that you could wear with a lot of pieces.  That way you can re-wear items throughout your trip!

Looking back.  I am so glad that I took the time to think through each item that I packed for our two week Europe trip.  I was able to use each item several times since we planned to have access to a washing machine.  I was able to pack so light, that my husband and I shared a suitcase!  I don’t know if I have ever been able to pack that light on such a long trip!  Being organized, and packing key pieces really made the difference.  And, with all the moving around to new places, I was so glad that I was able to pack so efficiently.  There is nothing worse than regretting all the items you brought on a long trip!
