book review: the happiness project …

March 14, 2010

i just finished the book, the happiness project last week.if you are not familiar with the book. it is a non-fiction book written by gretchen rubin. it is basically a memoir of her research and her year of trying out her resolutions each month and little by little see if it makes her a happier person.

i really enjoyed this book. i’ll admit it got a little slow for me somewhere in the middle, but i felt like i could really relate to her experience. and, i found it very hopeful that by just changing some small things in your life, can change your overall happiness for the better.i even tried a few of her techniques. there were many times in the last week that i remember biting my tongue instead of making a negative remark. it is nice to be more aware of what can make you happier in a situation. this book definitely gave me a lot to think about, and who knows, maybe i’ll even start my own happiness project? i’m know there are plenty of things i could work on.so, have you read it?did you like it?and, of course, i’ve got to know.. …. what are you reading?

I've had this book on hold at the library for a while now, looking forward to reading it when it comes in. Right now I'm reading Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro. It's full of short stories and well-written.

I've been thinking about buying it or looking for it at the library. I've seen it in magazines but it's nice to get a review from someone who's judgement I trust. 🙂

I read it and LOVED it. Did get a little slow in the middle, but I was still learning valuable information, which kept me going until the end. I am, without a doubt, happier and more aware of what makes, and keeps, me happy.
On that note, I am making an effort to read more books (and watch LESS reality TV!). I started "Friday night Knitting club" and so far, I love it.

One of my good friends just recommended "The Happiness Project." I plan to read it after I finish "The Help" and "Committed." The best books that I've read recently are "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and "The Girls from Ames." You should really give both of them a shot. Happy reading!

This book has been on my to-read list FOREVER NOW! I requested it at the library, but it's got a long wait time… I'm reading 29 Gifts by Cami Walker which talks about how giving brings true happiness and joy. Another book I know you'd enjoy is VISUAL POETRY by Chris Orwig. :):)

Almost done with it and I've really enjoyed it. Like you, it got slow in the middle, but I'm in October and it's exciting again. I've picked up some great philosophies, as well as some day-to-day suggestions. Can't wait to go through it again with a highlighter and pen and read it again!
