I am so excited to share some photos from our Family Vacation to Maine. We couldn’t visit the Portland area without heading out to explore some of the famous Maine Lighthouses. The historic Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth was first on our list. The Portland Head Light sits along the shores of Fort Williams Park, and captures the perfect the quintessential coastal scene of Maine. I didn’t realize, but it I have learned that it was commissioned by George Washington himself in 1791. Pretty cool!
Ezra, Norah, and Thomas had a really great time exploring the rocks by the shores, searching for little critters, and asking all sorts of questions about the lighthouse.
The park has the most stunning ocean views, and walking, and hiking trails, a museum, and other historic structures. It’s the perfect place to spend the afternoon as a family, pack a picnic, and explore! We stopped off at a cute restaurant to grab some food on our way there called Terra Cotta Pasta Co. It turned out to be amazing! They sold all sorts of homemade ready made fresh pastas (that we bought to bring home to cook later!), pizzas, and sandwiches. And, of course, I couldn’t pass up a Lobster Roll in Maine. Their Lobster Roll was amazing! And, so were their giant Peanut Butter cup cookies.. I mean, to die for!

Looking at these pictures makes me so happy! I can remember the views, the smells, how happy I was to be exploring with my little family. I know I say it all the time, but these precious family moments of exploring new places together. It really doesn’t get better than that! I literally live for it! There’s nothing better than creating these lasting memories together!
I always say, you’ll never regret the trips you have taken! At the end of the day, the sacrifice of traveling with young kids, the time, the money, it is all worth it for those precious memories that will last a lifetime!

Lovely photos! If you ever find yourself at Portland Headlight again, be sure to check out the children’s garden and forts — both fun places to explore. The Bite into Maine food truck also parks here regularly, and has an amazing lobster roll. Plus I hear there’s a new Gelato truck, too. Enjoy your family travels!
