Party // neon baby shower

June 27, 2012

i recently had the chance to help throw a fun neon themed baby shower for my good friend becky kimball!  the lovely heather, from milk glass and honey and i got together to pull off a lovely shower!

heather put together a darling invitation to help set the tone of the shower.

there was candy and sweet galore!  heather made these darling animal-topped jars to place the candy in, and we put them on my pink and white striped tray from ikea.

heather put together a great tutorial on how she made these darling jars, check it out over on her blog milk glass and honey!

heather made these darling garlands, and hanging chandeliers out of triangles she cut out of neon paper, and she sewed them together on her sewing machine.

they really were darling hanging over the desserts!

we served izze drinks, because the colors fit in just perfect!  i added some neon straws directly the bottles with neon avery labels.  i added a little neon flag to the top for the finishing touch.
i love a good theme, so i packaged up my gift for becky in a fun gable box with neons.
i made becky a fun colorful striped quilt like the one i made my little thomas.  i’ve been dying for a chance to make a girl version, and i love how it turned out with the pinks!
for thank you gifts, heather ordered and painted these darling wooden berry baskets in our neon colors, and i filled them with mini succulents and packages of goodies with a little note that heather made saying, “thanks for coming xoxo.”
it was so fun to use the neon trend as the theme, and shower becky and her baby girl!

DIY // father’s day freezer paper stencil t-shirts

June 9, 2012

father’s day is coming up just around the corner, and i have a fun DIY father’s day gift idea to share with you today!

my children love to get involved and help make gifts for people they love.  so, for father’s day, we thought it would be fun to make their daddy some fun freezer paper stencil t-shirts!  he likes to wear t-shirts when he’s home from work relaxing with the family, so we knew he would get a lot of use out of them.

i’ve been making freezer paper stencils for years, (see here, and here.) it isn’t hard to do at all, and making stencils out of freezer paper is easy, and works really well!

we decided on a few designs, and we got to work.

i made sure to recruit my cute little helpers to help paint the t-shirts.

they were very proud to show their daddy what they made for him!

we made a camper, because they like to go camping with their dad.

and, of course, “super daddy” since he’s a real hero in their eyes!

i am sharing the full tutorial and my step by step instructions along with the details and downloads for all the graphics i used over on my post for hellobee today!

be sure to check it out here, and make the father in your life something personal, and special!

DIY // neon dipped succulent pots

June 2, 2012

with neon, and “dipped” things being such a trend right now, i decided to make a little neon dipped clay pot for my children’s teacher appreciation gifts for the end of the school year.

this was a great project, because it is very simple to do, and your children can even get in on the action and help paint the pots!  i filled mine with succulents, because i just love succulents, and frankly they are the only plant i can keep alive, ha!

you only need a few supplies to get started!

head on over to hellobee for the full step by step tutorial on how to neon dip clay pots.  these would make great gifts, or add some pizzaz to your party table!
